How we handle your data
Privacy Policy
Short version: we collect an email address if you give us one, we use standard tools to run a checkout and see whether the page works, and we do not sell anything about you to anyone. The long version is below, because "trust us" is not a privacy policy.
What we never see: nothing you write inside The Finder's Book. The PDFs are files on your device. They do not sync, phone home, or transmit anything. We have no access to your entries, and there is no server where they could be stored.
Who we are
Joanne Godfrey and Michael David Warren Jr., publishers of The Finder's Book — The Family Clarity System™. Contact: info@familyfindersbook.com. We are the data controller for the information described here.
What we collect, and why
| Data | When | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Email address, optional first name | When you optionally ask us to email your Gap Check score and the 1-page checklist | To send the checklist if email delivery is switched on. The on-page score does not require an email. | Consent |
| Order details — email, purchase amount, product, country for tax | At checkout | To deliver your files, provide support, and meet tax obligations | Contract & legal obligation |
| Usage data — pages viewed, buttons clicked, referring source, approximate region, device type | While browsing the site | To understand which parts of the page help and which confuse | Consent or legitimate interest, depending on your region |
| Support correspondence | When you email us or use the contact form | To answer you and keep a record of the issue | Legitimate interest |
We do not ask for, want, or store: passwords, PINs, recovery codes, full account numbers, Social Security numbers, or medical records. If you email any of those to us by accident, we will delete the message and tell you we did.
Payment information
We never see your card number. Checkout is handled by Payhip and its payment processors. Your card details go directly to them and are never transmitted to or stored by us. We receive only the order confirmation: what was bought, for how much, and the email to deliver it to.
Who processes data on our behalf
| Processor | Role | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Payhip | Checkout, payment, file delivery | Email, order and payment details; if you allow analytics, pseudonymous Google Analytics client/session identifiers carried as checkout metadata solely to match a completed order to the same analytics session |
| MailerLite | Email delivery and list management | Email, optional first name, engagement |
| Vercel Web Analytics | Privacy-focused page and conversion measurement | Page path, referrer, approximate region, device type, and named site events |
| Google Analytics 4 | Website analytics and conversion measurement | Page path, referrer, approximate location, device and browser info, pseudonymous client/session identifiers, site interactions, and conversion events |
| Our hosting provider | Serving the website and API routes | Standard server logs and form requests |
| Resend | Transactional delivery of contact-form messages to our owner inbox | Name, email, message category and message text |
| Secondary owner-alert service, if enabled | Optional operational alert that a contact-form message needs a reply | Name, email, message category and message text |
Each operates under its own privacy terms and processes data on our instructions. If a tool listed above is not currently active on the site, no data flows to it.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal information. We never have.
- We do not sell your email or disclose it to third parties for their own marketing. The service providers listed above process it only as needed to operate checkout, delivery, support, analytics you have allowed, and email.
- We do not build advertising profiles about individuals.
- We do not send email to people who did not ask for it.
Cookies and similar technologies
The site uses a small number of cookies and browser-storage entries:
- Your analytics preference is stored in your browser so we can remember whether you allowed or declined optional analytics.
- Session storage holds campaign parameters (such as
utm_source) for the length of your visit, so we can tell which channel sent you. It is cleared when you close the tab. - Vercel Web Analytics measures aggregate page views and named site events without setting analytics cookies by default. It is not loaded until you allow analytics.
- Google Analytics 4 is not loaded until you allow analytics. Once allowed, it sets first-party cookies (such as
_gaand_ga_*) to distinguish visitors and measure conversions. For a checkout you start while analytics is allowed, the site may place the resulting pseudonymous GA client and session identifiers in Payhip checkout metadata; Payhip echoes that metadata to our purchase webhook so the completed order can be measured in the same analytics session. If you decline or withdraw analytics consent, those GA metadata values are not added to checkout links. These cookies expire after up to 2 years. Google’s privacy terms are at policies.google.com/privacy. - No advertising pixel is currently active on this site.
Use the Privacy choices control at the bottom of any page to allow, decline, or withdraw analytics consent. Withdrawing stops future site events and removes Finder’s Book GA cookies that are accessible to this site. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without optional analytics; only the measurement stops.
How long we keep things
- Email subscribers: while subscribed. After you unsubscribe, the email may remain on a suppression record so we can honor the opt-out; you may ask us to delete other profile data where applicable.
- Order records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, typically 7 years.
- Analytics: in aggregate, per the provider's retention settings.
- Support correspondence and contact-form copies: kept only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, handle follow-up, and maintain necessary business records. We review older support records periodically, and you may request deletion at any time subject to legal obligations.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you may ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you
- Correct anything inaccurate
- Delete it
- Send you a copy in a portable format
- Stop using it for a particular purpose
- Withdraw consent at any time
Email info@familyfindersbook.com. We respond within 30 days and we do not charge for this.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
You have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA, so there is no "Do Not Sell" mechanism to operate — there is nothing to opt out of. We will never discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
UK and EU residents (UK GDPR / GDPR)
You have the rights listed above, plus the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority — the ICO in the UK, or your national data protection authority in the EU. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting processing already carried out.
Email you receive from us
Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer. It works immediately. Transactional messages — your receipt and your download link — are sent because you bought something, and are not marketing.
International transfers
Our processors may store data in the United States and elsewhere. Where data leaves the UK or EEA, transfers rely on the safeguards our processors maintain, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
Children
This site and product are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their details, email us and we will delete them.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Payment data never touches our systems. Access to the email list is limited to the two of us. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise — but we have deliberately designed this so that the sensitive material stays on your device rather than ours.
Changes
If we change this policy we update the date at the top. Material changes affecting how we use your information will be emailed to subscribers before they take effect.
